MR Grade
Commercial Plywood
Versatile commercial plywood, perfect for all construction needs, the everyday sheet for bedroom furniture, partitions and general joinery.
View ProductOscar Ply manufactures MR grade commercial plywood at its Raebareli plant, built on a full hardwood core rather than a mixed one, and supplies dealers, carpenters and furniture units across Uttar Pradesh with full load and part load dispatch.
Commercial ply is the grade most of a house is actually built from, and it is also the grade where quality varies most. Two sheets can both be sold as MR commercial at almost the same price and be nothing alike inside: one with a packed hardwood core and a clean face, the other with gappy mixed veneers, a patched face and a glue line that gives up in the second monsoon. The grade name tells you about the resin. It tells you nothing about the sheet.
Oscar Ply builds its commercial grade the way the better grades are built: full hardwood core composed edge to edge, calibrated and wide belt sanded, and vacuum pressure treated against termites and borers. It is still MR grade and still priced as an everyday sheet, but it behaves predictably, which is what a carpenter in Lucknow, Kanpur or Varanasi is really buying when he orders a hundred sheets sight unseen.
Commercial ply for most of the job, a higher grade for the few places that need one. Both from the same plant.

View ProductMost of a house, honestly. These are the places where paying for a waterproof grade buys you very little.
Wardrobes, beds, side tables and study units in dry rooms, which is the largest single use of plywood in any home.
Room dividers, wall panelling and dado work where the panel is fixed, dry and never asked to carry weight.
Framing, backing and service access panels above the ceiling line, where nobody sees the sheet and nothing touches water.
4mm and 6mm backs for wardrobes and storage units, where a thin, flat, consistent sheet matters more than density.
Retail shelving, stock room racking and display backing across Lucknow and Kanpur that gets rebuilt every few seasons.
Site office partitions, hoarding, staging and packing cases, where the sheet does a job for a season and moves on.
Commercial grade is where specifications are quoted loosely, so here is ours in full. If a competing sheet is cheaper, compare it line by line against this list rather than on the price per sheet alone.

These four are where cheap commercial ply saves its money. We do not, and that is the whole difference.
The cheapest saving in commercial ply is a mixed or softwood core under a decent face. Ours stays full hardwood, composed edge to edge.
Preservative is the first thing dropped to hit a price, and our own state is no gentler than any other. Every commercial sheet we make is vacuum pressure treated.
Uneven thickness is invisible until laminate goes on and the joints step. Wide belt sanding costs us time and saves the carpenter hours.
Shade and thickness stay consistent between orders, so a job running over months does not end up with two visibly different batches in one room.
Commercial grade sets the resin and nothing else, so this is where the money quietly goes in or out.
| What Varies | Cut Price Sheet | Oscar Ply Commercial | When You Find Out |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core species | Mixed softwood, whatever is cheapest that week | Full hardwood, consistent batch to batch | The first time a loaded screw pulls out of a shelf or a hinge sags. |
| Core gaps | Visible voids between core veneers | Composed edge to edge, zero gap | When the carpenter drills and the bit drops into nothing, usually mid job. |
| Face veneer | Patched, knotty, sometimes overlapped | Sound and sanded, ready for laminate | After lamination, when every patch telegraphs through the finish. |
| Thickness tolerance | Pressed only, varies across the sheet | Calibrated and wide belt sanded | At the joint lines, where two panels sit at different heights. |
| Preservative treatment | Often skipped or brushed on the surface | Vacuum pressure treated, every sheet | Two or three years later, which is far too late to do anything about it. |
| Batch consistency | Shade and thickness drift order to order | Same shade and thickness on reorder | When the second lot arrives and will not match the first room. |

Ask the dealer in Lucknow, Kanpur or Varanasi to put both sheets side by side, then work through these.
Line both edges up at eye level. Count the gaps and look at how even the veneer layers are. This one check explains most price differences.
Same size, same thickness. A noticeably lighter sheet has a softer core, which is a fair trade at a lower price but not at the same one.
Hold it at an angle to the light. Patches, overlaps and knots will show through laminate later, and sanding on site will not remove them.
A calibrated sheet reads the same everywhere. A pressed only sheet varies, and that variation turns into stepped joints after lamination.
Preservative is invisible and easy to leave out, so it is the quietest saving in cheap commercial ply. Ask, and ask how it was applied.
If you have bought before, hold the new sheet against the old one. Shade drift between batches is what leaves one room looking different.
Oscar Ply dispatches commercial ply, block boards and doors to dealers, carpenters and furniture units in these cities and the districts around them.

Answers to what contractors, dealers and builders ask us most often before placing a first order.
Oscar Ply is a manufacturer, not a trading brand. Every sheet is produced at our own plant at Kashimpur Baghel, Sultaanpur Road, Dighiya, Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh and dispatched directly to dealers, carpenters and furniture units across Uttar Pradesh.
Commercial ply is MR grade, moisture resistant plywood, and it is the everyday sheet for dry interior work: bedroom furniture, partitions, panelling, false ceiling framework, back panels and shop shelving. It is the right choice for most of a house, and it covers the majority of plywood sold in India.
Because the grade only fixes the resin. Core species, core gaps, face veneer quality, thickness calibration and preservative treatment all vary widely within commercial grade, and every one of them is a place to cut cost. Compare the cut edges of two sheets and most of the price difference explains itself.
No, and we would rather say so plainly. MR grade is not built for standing water or constant humidity, and a kitchen carcass or bathroom vanity in commercial ply will separate at the plies within a few years. Use BWP grade there and commercial ply everywhere else.
Yes. Preservative is driven into the veneers under vacuum pressure rather than brushed on the surface, on commercial grade as well as the higher grades. It is one of the first things left out of a cut price sheet, so it is worth asking any supplier. Uttar Pradesh is our home state, so buyers here can visit the Raebareli plant and see the treatment plant for themselves rather than take our word for it.
We appoint stocking dealers and distributors in districts that are currently open, with territory backing and priority dispatch. Commercial grade moves the highest volume of any product we make. Share your city and current business profile and our team will confirm availability.
