Get these right and the doors hang first time. Get one wrong and every shutter needs planing on site.
Measure the clear opening inside the frame at top, middle and bottom, not the old shutter. Old frames are rarely square and the smallest of the three is your number.
Leave a few millimetres all round for the carpenter to plane and for the finish thickness. Lipping on all four edges is what makes that trim possible.
Which way the door swings and which side the hinges sit. It costs nothing to state it on the order and a lot to discover it on site.
Tell us the mortice height so the lock rail is positioned behind it. Cutting a mortice where there is only core is the most common avoidable door failure.
MR for dry internal openings, BWP for bathrooms, kitchens, balconies and main doors. Mark it against each line of the schedule, not as one blanket grade.
Doors must be stacked flat and off the floor, under cover, until they are finished and hung. A week standing on edge against a damp wall will bow a good door.
