Poplar ply is an interior grade. For dry interior work across the coastal belt our MR grade poplar ply performs well when every cut edge is sealed and polished. For kitchens, bathroom vanities, wash areas and ground floor units in Mangaluru, Udupi or Karwar, poplar is not the right sheet and we recommend our BWP grade plywood, which is bonded with phenol formaldehyde resin.
Hardwood plywood uses hardwood in every layer for the highest density and screw holding, and alternate ply mixes hardwood and poplar layers. Poplar ply uses poplar throughout, so it is the lightest of the three, the smoothest to laminate and the most economical. It suits panelling, false ceilings, light shutters and laminated furniture, while heavy load shelving and wet areas are better served by our alternate ply or BWP grades.
